Something not working, or a question the answers below don't cover? Email support@takeover.cloud and a real person will reply — usually within one business day. Takeover is built by a small team, so the more detail you send, the faster this goes.
The app blocker isn't blocking
On Android, blocking needs Usage access. It isn't a normal pop-up permission — you grant it in Settings › Apps › Special app access › Usage access › Takeover. If blocking worked and then stopped, your phone most likely put Takeover to sleep: open Settings › Apps › Takeover › Battery and set it to Unrestricted. Some manufacturers (Xiaomi, Samsung, Huawei, OPPO) are especially aggressive about this and also have an "Autostart" or "Protected apps" list worth checking.
On iOS, blocking uses Apple's Screen Time. If the lock never appears, open Settings › Screen Time and make sure it's turned on, then re-grant access from inside Takeover. If Screen Time is managed by a parent or an employer's device profile, third-party blocking can be disabled entirely.
One thing that's normal: on Android there can be up to about a second between opening a blocked app and the lock screen appearing. Takeover reads which app is in front rather than watching your screen, and that's the trade-off we chose to avoid asking for accessibility access.
Health data isn't showing up
Takeover reads health data only with your permission, and only to show it back to you. On Android it uses Health Connect — make sure Health Connect is installed and that Takeover is allowed to read the data types you care about. On iOS, check Settings › Health › Data Access & Devices › Takeover and confirm each category is enabled. Permissions granted during onboarding can be revoked later by the system, so it's worth re-checking there first.
Managing your subscription
Subscriptions are handled by the store, not by us, so changes and cancellations happen there:
- iOS — Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Takeover
- Android — Play Store › profile icon › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions
Changed phones or reinstalled the app? Open Takeover, go to Settings and tap Restore purchases while signed into the same store account you originally used. If a restore doesn't bring your access back, email us with the store receipt and we'll sort it out.
Refunds
Refunds are issued by Apple and Google rather than by us. On iOS use reportaproblem.apple.com; on Android request it from your Play Store order history. If the store turns you down and you believe something genuinely went wrong, write to us and we'll take a look.
Deleting your account and data
You can delete your account from inside the app: Settings › Account › Delete account. This permanently removes your tasks, habits, health records and financial entries from our servers. It can't be undone, and it doesn't cancel an active subscription — do that in the store as described above. If you can't get into the app, email us from the address on the account and we'll delete it for you.
The widget isn't updating
The home screen widget refreshes when the app syncs. Open Takeover once and give it a few seconds, then check the widget. On Android, the same battery restrictions that stop the blocker will also stop the widget from refreshing, so the Unrestricted setting above fixes both.
Reporting a bug
The fastest reports include your phone model, your OS version, the Takeover version from Settings › About, and what you did right before it went wrong. Screenshots or a short screen recording help more than anything else. Send it all to support@takeover.cloud.
Feature requests
We read every one. If you want something Takeover doesn't do yet, tell us what you're trying to accomplish rather than the feature you have in mind — it often turns out there's a better answer than the one either of us started with.
